Studio Update & 2009 Early Summer Pottery & Ceramics Class & Workshop Schedule, Wheel & Handbuilding, New York, Washington Heights, Inwood, WaHI

It's been awhile since anyone here posted, but not for lack of activity at the studio. We've been busy and have even begun our summer session of handbuilding and wheel pottery classes and studio workshop time.

My Tuesday night class was booked before the last session ended and tomorrow 12 of us head into our 3rd of 7 classes.

Arlene's opted to offer studio open time to her Monday night students who will work independently, with little to no instruction, so she will be able to work on her own creations. She has no more room for new students during this Summer session.

Dave is experimenting with a Sunday night class slot that started 2 weeks ago, Memorial Day weekend. He may still have spots available. See contact link to the right to get in touch with him.

Alex still has a week or 2 left of his Saturday morning Spring session class to go. As of now he has not solidified Summer teaching schedule.

On the near and far horizon...

*Late summer classes/workshop time will be posted here if any of us decide to offer it. So check back and contact us for details.

*I'm considering the possibility of taking on 2-4 children for a once weekly class. I'll update site with details if I decide to go forward.

*Pinch and Pit Firing Workshop: I've gotten it into my head to contact the NYC Parks Department and see if they'll let me design a class for the Nature Center at Inwood Hill Park, one where we'd meet just 2 times at the nature center and make pottery the way Native Americans did. In the first session we'd pinch clay pots. At the second meeting we'd meet for a pit firing on park riverfront property. I love the idea, but must do more research, planning and legwork.
